A Word From the Prez

Model Behavior

Hi Gang,

Seems like Christmas is just over and here we are, getting ready for our Spring show. For those of you who don't remember dates, it's Saturday, March 1, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Davenport. The address, for you new guys, is 3834 Rockingham Rd. We start around Sam, break for lunch from 12 to 1 and wrap up around 3pm.

I believe the big scale challenge is still on and don't forget Craig's other project... if you have a stalled out model project, put it in a box and put that in a paper bag... bring it along and we'll have a place where you can put it. Later, anyone who has brought a project will be able to pick another one to take home and finish. It's a great way to get rid of an old project and, maybe, see it finished, plus the chance to pick up something else to exercise your creativity on. Don't forget... the Spring show features our annual Lunatic Fringe competition. Bring your whacked out creations and enter them in competition. Lately, it seems like there's been one clear standout among the entries. I'd like to see you guys make it tougher on me and my "guest judge" to pick the winner.

I'm gonna keep this brief because I promised Bruce I'd get it to him and I think I'm on the verge of breaking that promise! See you guys on March 1.

John

Fall Show Notes:

I can say that had to be the one of the best KKIM meets yet! If you didn't make it, you missed a great one.

I'll start out by thanking those that donated door prizes: Brian's Hobby, DeKalb, IL; Hobby Town USA, Davenport, I A; Rich Reingold, Les Gibbens, Dick Wilson, Rick Worgess, Frank Leisnig, Wizzz, Craig Stansfield, and Kerry Ingram. A big thanks to Gracie Johnson for pulling names for the drawings. Les Gibbens had a great idea to raffle off a cordless Dremel tool this raised $42 for the club, Thanks.

When all the voting was over, the coveted Primer Award went to John Berry for his.. Er.. ah...yea..'49 Ford and other parts donated to create this. We got to play "what do you think it is?' on this one. Very nice design. Congratulations.

"Bowl me over Trophy" last meet's winner, Rod Kress, presented Craig Stansfield the award for his '37 Ford Board Delivery. Very cool. Surfs up!

The Wizz pick went to Rod Kress for his "Yellow Fang". Rod received a very cool print.
Again, thanks who all made this a special day! We are looking forward to the Build-n-Bulls and also to our March show.

Happy Modeling, Bruce Beintema

In Memoriam:

We have received word that our good friend and member, Bob Urry, has passed away after a heart attack. Bob was one of those guys you couldn't help but like. He'll be missed by everybody who knew him. Our condolences to Bob's family.

Gotta Have It!!
